Cinderella

Although Cinderella is one of the most well-known Disney fairytales, it was never my favorite movie and Cinderella herself was never the princess that I wanted to be.  I still enjoy watching this classic, but there’s just something I find more appealing about movies like The Little Mermaid and Mulan.  If I had to guess the reason, I’d say it is probably the lack of adventure compared to the other two, and the lack of more upbeat songs.  However, “Cinderelly, Cinderelly/Night and day it's Cinderelly” is a song that’s very hard to forget and not sing along to.

Since this movie never really interested me, I’ve decided to keep myself preoccupied, so the live blogging begins:

“Once Upon a time” – the classic beginning to a classic fairytale ending

I'm convinced Lady Tremaine and Maleficent share the same hair.  Was this done on purpose or did Disney just run out of ideas?

Of course Cinderella remained so kind-hearted and joyful after living as a poorly-treated servant in her own home.  She somehow finds goodness in everyone and everything.  Please Cinderella, teach me your ways.

I always thought purple represented luxury and royalty, but I’m starting to see a trend with the Disney villains.  Many of them wear purple clothes and have purple décor in their homes.  Also, its fitting that the cat is named Lucifer – what better way to point out an evil character than to name him after the devil?  Adding to that, the cat has yellow, slanted eyes, sharp teeth, and pointy, black claws.  Ask for more villain in an animal – I dare you.

I forgot how bad the step sisters were at singing, and I wish I never had to remember…
To add to their amazing voices, I’ve never been exposed to such grateful girls!  There are so many less fortunate people than you, but continue complaining about all the jewelry and fine clothes you are so privileged to have.

I realized why this movie never appealed to me as much as other.  One, I cannot stand the stepsisters, and two, I’m sorry to say this but the movie bores me.  The music puts me to sleep, and I think I zoned out while watching animals make a dress for ten straight minutes.

Cinderella, your sisters and stepmothers are doing everything possible to prevent you from going to the ball.  Why would you inform them that you are going and yell to them to wait for you.  Not a smart move at all; I could’ve seen this happening from a mile away.

I never understood how the stepmother and the stepsisters didn’t recognize Cinderella at the ball.  She does look different than usual considering she is dressed up for the first time, but they do live with her and have been living with her for many years.  And Cinderella didn’t know she was dancing with the Prince?

How is it possible that all of the magic wore off at midnight but the glass slippers stayed intact?  Also, apparently Cinderella is so special and unique that she even has her own shoe size, different from every other maiden in the whole kingdom.

Why must Cinderella always give everything away?  Realizing that the duke was coming to try the glass slipper on every maiden in the kingdom, why would you give any indication that you were the girl dancing with the prince?  Of course Lady Tremaine is going to lock to up.  How did she not learn from the incident on the night of the ball?’

Must this princess always lose one of her slippers on the same steps?  Some people just never learn.

I have so many unanswered questions from this film, but regardless, I admire how Cinderella is a classic movie that teaches children to never give up on their dreams.  An always upbeat girl like Cinderella deserves nothing less than Prince Charming and I am truly happy for her fairytale ending, despite my many critiques displayed above.
